There are plenty of reasons why the kite makes a great metaphor for communication. The Chinese used it to send messages as long ago as 200 BC; Marconi used one to receive the first transatlantic radio signal in 1901.

But the reason we chose a kite for our symbol is because it reminds us of being kids. A couple of sticks, some paper and a bit of string; the fresh wind in your face; the tug on the line as a gust whips your kite into the air…

We love kites because they’re simple and fun (pretty good starting points for any kind of communication). And because, wherever you go in the world, they make people happy.
